Ruth’s Latest Book

Travel through the depth of loneliness, the moments of consternation and the tenderness and grace of caregiving with the pages of Coping. Anger and stress, plus care and concern are the shadows on the uncharted mountains and peace when a rainbow appears.

Coping is not a conventional “how to” guide with medical insights: instead, it astonishes readers with its vivid portrayal of human kindness amidst tears and anger and unexpected laughter.

Coping is a book of true stories about a diverse group of people where caring and conflict may collide. It’s about difficult decisions and unexpected surprises. It is short, practical and hopeful.

Life is enriched by these caregivers: theirs and their loved ones. The book is a must-read, while muddling through the mist.

Quotes from Readers

“You can find hope, and also find yourself, in the heartfelt and painfully honest interviews of the many caregivers profiled in this book. Such relatable stories!”

“I couldn’t pick a favorite chapter, theme, or story. Each one was unique, heartfelt, fascinating and real. The author lends a unique ear and is clearly an excellent listener, retelling these true stories with such compassion and then opening up about her own personal journey sharing emotions of perceived guilt, frustration and helplessness. Poignant, insightful, inspiring.”

Quote from Author Ruth Glover

“When I saw the need for a book about the emotional impact of caring for loved ones, I decided to write about caregivers. The true stories about people who rode the path of sadness and stress is an opportunity for readers to understand themselves and others better. It took almost two years to write Coping: The Love Many faces of Love and Care. I changed names and locations to respect privacy, my own included.”

I love the Southwest with its mountains in the West, the seaside in the South, the Red River towns to the North, and Louisiana on the border.

I write about the food,  festivals, fun, and history. I write about small towns, but not always.

The small towns amaze me with the treasures in their museums, like the Czech Museum in La Grange or the new Rockport Center for the Art.

How about the replica of the boat named La Belle, wrecked in the bay in the 1820s when people tried to migrate to Palacious? Perhaps a story about a child selling trinkets by the side of the river in Big Bend. And often information about good food and drink to refresh our weary fast-paced lives.I will never run out of stories for you.
