The Joy of Halloween Photos
‘Tiz the season for weird to funny Halloween photos, but where are the photos I recalled, the ones from our parties? Somehow, I thought of the huge cardboard box of albums from long ago. I found the heavy box and counted twelve albums with a zillion photos of children and pets. However, the group photo with our friends took more than a few days.
Meanwhile, enjoy the fascinating expressions on the children. I admit. I’m biased. But my kids have their own kids and our grandkids nowadays. I’m happy to see our online adult group photo of our Halloween party appear this week.
I want to share the memory with you. I was determined to find the church class photo about the Halloween party at our house. I spent a whole day looking through the albums. I hope you like their costumes and wonder where participants are today.
But let’s start with the oldest child in the bunch, my oldest child. He wanted to be a Praying Mantis. I recall looking for a green pajama outfit. “Are you kidding?” my friends asked. I knew how to sew and purchased an old paper pattern and bought bright green material for a sleeper with no booties. I made the antlers (actually painted cardboard off clothes hangers). Problems solved. My other little guy laughed and loved an old dress of mine to wear.
Still no photo of the adult group at home. I recounted twelve albums on a messy kitchen table while looking at every one of the photos.
Finally, I found the missing photo card. Now which photos should I share? How shall we display such a mixture? I’ve forgotten most names in the group. I don’t recognize or stay in touch with those wonderful people. My husband stays connected with one of the men. I see some of the women online, but we don’t stay in touch. I’m happy to see their posts. They are a lovely memory.
The question I pose today… is this sad or simply good to recall the memories? I hope some of the merry church group sees this. I’d love to know how everyone is today.
